KUALA LUMPUR: The government will ensure the country’s economy is in the best possible position in the wake of the global economic and financial meltdown, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said yesterday. “It is the government’s top priority to insulate the economy from succumbing to pressure from global economic and financial meltdown. “Our priority is to ensure high economic growth to the best of our ability given the current volatile world economic landscape,” he said when asked what the Barisan Nasional (BN) government’s priority is in facing the world economic crisis. Earlier, Najib, who is also finance minister, chaired the cabinet committee meeting on sports development at Parliament House. — Bernama
